73 / 500 characters

Free clips are up to 500 characters, with no sign-up and no watermark. Longer scripts, voice cloning and more voices are on the paid plans.

How it works

  1. Write one line per character. Free clips are up to 500 characters.
  2. Pick a voice for that character. The "Hero / narrator preset" lowers the pitch by 10 Hz and slows the voice by 5 percent for a warm lead. Untick it for a normal voice, or open a character page below for its own preset.
  3. Generate and download each line as an MP3, then put them together in your video, game or audio editor.

Character types you can make

Each character type has its own page with a pitch and speed preset tuned for it. Use the links at the bottom of this page to open one.

  • Hero or narrator: this page, Andrew with the hero preset.
  • Villain: the movie trailer or deep voice generator for a slow, low, calm threat.
  • Monster, giant or troll: the monster voice generator.
  • Robot or AI: the robot voice generator.
  • Cartoon sidekick or comic relief: the cartoon and funny voice generators.
  • Kid or baby character: the child and baby voice generators.
  • Old man, elder or wizard: the old man voice generator.
  • Mad scientist: the mad scientist voice generator.
  • Anime-style hero or heroine: the anime voice generator.
  • Horror narrator: the scary and analog horror voice generators.
  • Announcer or host: the announcer voice generator.

How to give each character a different voice

  • Use a different voice for each main character, so listeners always know who is talking.
  • Change the preset, not only the voice: the same voice sounds like a new person when it is higher, lower, faster or slower.
  • Use accents for a cast from different places, such as British or Indian English.
  • Write the way each character talks: short and blunt for a brute, long and formal for a wizard.
  • Use punctuation for timing: "..." for a pause, "!" for energy.

Where character voices work well

  • Indie games: NPCs, quest givers, bosses and companions.
  • Animations, comics with sound and short films.
  • Audiobooks and bedtime stories with many characters.
  • YouTube, TikTok and Reels skits.
  • D&D sessions, podcasts and radio dramas.

What this tool does and does not do

  • It reads your text in many standard AI voices, with pitch and speed presets for different character types.
  • It does not imitate any cartoon, anime, game or film character, or any real actor.
  • It does not add emotion tags or sound effects, and it does not change a recording of your voice.

Can I use the voices in my game, animation or YouTube video?

Yes, you can download the MP3s and use them in your projects. Check each platform's rules on labelling AI-generated audio.

Does it work in other languages?

Yes. Switch the language and pick a voice. The presets work on voices in every language in the list.

Need more than a short clip?

The free box above is capped at 500 characters per clip. If you need longer scripts (up to 5,000 characters per generation), voice cloning or higher-quality voices, take a look at the plans. Nothing here is required to use the free tool.
