How it works

  1. Open the script you used on Play.ht, or copy it from your old video description or document. Paste up to 500 characters into the box above.
  2. Pick a language and a voice, then press play. Try two or three voices, because a voice close to your old one keeps a series consistent.
  3. Download the MP3 and drop it into your video editor. For longer scripts, split at a paragraph break and make one clip per part.

What happened to Play.ht

  • Meta took on the Play.ht team in July 2025. Its API went offline that year and new sign-ups stopped in August 2025.
  • The service closed on 31 December 2025. Accounts, saved audio files and voice clones were deleted, and no export tool was offered.
  • That means old clips and cloned voices cannot be moved anywhere. You have to make the audio again from the text.

How to move your voiceovers from Play.ht

  • Collect your scripts first. Look in your video descriptions, docs, email drafts and editor project files.
  • Choose one voice per series and write its name down, so every new episode sounds the same.
  • If you had a cloned voice on Play.ht, record a fresh sample and make a new clone. A paid plan here includes voice cloning.
  • Check pronunciation of names and brand words, and spell them the way they sound if a voice reads them wrong.
