Free clips are up to 500 characters, with no sign-up and no watermark. Longer scripts, voice cloning and more voices are on the paid plans.

How it works

  1. Split your explainer into scenes and write one short paragraph of narration per scene. Paste one scene at a time into the box above.
  2. Choose a language and a voice, play it back, and keep the same voice for every scene.
  3. Download each MP3, drop the clips onto the timeline of your video editor, and cut or stretch the visuals to match the length of each clip.

A simple structure for explainer video narration

  • Problem (10 to 15 seconds): name the pain your viewer already feels.
  • Solution (10 to 15 seconds): introduce your product or idea in one sentence.
  • How it works (30 to 45 seconds): three steps or three benefits, one scene each.
  • Call to action (5 to 10 seconds): one thing the viewer should do next.
  • Most explainers run 60 to 90 seconds. At roughly 2.5 spoken words per second, that is about 150 to 225 words.

Tips for narration that matches your visuals

  • Write for the ear: short sentences, everyday words, one idea per sentence.
  • Generate narration per scene, not as one long file. It is much easier to line up and to fix a single line later.
  • Spell out numbers, brand names and acronyms the way they should be said, and test tricky words before you commit.
  • Use commas and full stops to control pauses, then play the clip and adjust the punctuation.
  • Time your visuals to the audio, not the other way round: the voice clip sets the length of each scene.

Which video editors can use the MP3?

Any editor that accepts audio files can use the downloaded MP3, including CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, iMovie, Canva and PowerPoint. Drag the clip onto the audio track, line it up with its scene and export your video as usual.

This tool does not add background music, sound effects or video. Add a royalty-free music bed in your editor and lower it while the narrator speaks.

Frequently asked questions

Is this explainer video voiceover tool free?

Yes. The text to speech box is free with no sign-up and no watermark, up to 500 characters per clip, which fits one scene of narration. For longer scripts, voice cloning and more voices, see the paid plans.

How do I narrate a full video if clips are limited to 500 characters?

Generate the narration scene by scene, which also makes editing easier. Paid plans allow longer scripts in a single generation.

Which file format do I get?

An MP3 file for every clip, which any common video editor can import.

Can I make the voiceover in another language?

Yes. Choose another language in the box, write the scene in that language and pick one of its voices. Use the same voice for the whole video.

Can I change the speed or the emotion of the voice?

Not in the free box. Use punctuation and shorter sentences to shape the pacing, and speed up or slow down the clip in your video editor if needed.

Need more than a short clip?

The free box above is capped at 500 characters per clip. If you need longer scripts (up to 5,000 characters per generation), voice cloning or higher-quality voices, take a look at the plans. Nothing here is required to use the free tool.
