How it works

  1. Type or paste your text into the box above. Free clips are up to 500 characters.
  2. English (India) is already selected. Choose Neerja, NeerjaExpressive or Prabhat from the voice list.
  3. Press generate, listen, and download the MP3. For a Hindi script, switch the language to Hindi and pick Swara or Madhur.

Which Indian voices can I use?

Under English (India) there are three neural voices: Neerja and NeerjaExpressive (female) and Prabhat (male). They read English text with an Indian English accent.

If your script is in Hindi, choose Hindi in the language menu for two more voices, Swara (female) and Madhur (male). Urdu voices are in the same menu.

Where an Indian accent voice works well

  • YouTube, Instagram Reels and Shorts made for viewers in India.
  • IVR menus, customer care messages and store announcements.
  • E-learning lessons, coaching videos and school projects.
  • Ads and product demos for an Indian audience.

Tips for a more natural Indian English read

  • Write the way your audience speaks, including local words like "namaste" or "chai".
  • Spell out numbers you want read a certain way, for example "two lakh rupees" instead of "2,00,000". Always listen to check.
  • Use commas for short pauses and full stops for longer ones. Try NeerjaExpressive if you want a livelier read.

What this tool does and does not do

  • It turns typed text into speech with an Indian English accent and gives you an MP3.
  • It does not change the accent of your own recording. It is text to speech, not a voice changer.
  • It has three Indian English voices and two Hindi voices, not separate regional accents such as Tamil English or Punjabi English. There are no speed or pitch sliders.
