Load a PDF, choose a voice, and turn your book, notes or manuscript into MP3 audio you can listen to anywhere.
Start from a sample script:
Free clips are up to 500 characters, with no sign-up and no watermark. Longer scripts, voice cloning and more voices are on the paid plans.
Open "More options (free)" under the text box and find the Import section. Choose your PDF (Word, EPUB, PPTX and TXT files work too). The file is read in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, and the text lands in the box.
Free clips are up to 500 characters each. When you press Generate on a longer text, the tool splits it into 500-character parts. Press "Make" on each part, then "Join finished parts into one MP3". You get one audio file for the whole section, ready to download.
So you can convert a whole PDF to an audio book free, it just takes a few clicks per part. An account or plan lets you make longer parts at once.
Import reads the text layer of a PDF. A scanned PDF is just pictures of pages, so it has no text to read. If you cannot select the words in your PDF viewer, that is the reason.
For a few pages, take a photo or screenshot of each page and use "Text from photo" in the Import section. It reads the words from the picture in your browser. Check the text before you generate, because small print and odd fonts can come out wrong.
A calm, natural voice is easiest to listen to for a long time. Andrew is preselected. Ava, Emma, Brian and Jenny are also good for AI audiobook narration, and the language menu has British, Australian, Indian and many other voices.
Make the first page in two or three voices and listen on your phone before you start the whole book. If the pace feels fast, lower the Speed slider in More options by 5 to 10 percent.
Yes. Free clips are up to 500 characters with no sign-up needed to try, and you download MP3s. Longer parts and more generations need an account or plan, see /pricing.
Yes. Load the PDF in More options, let it split into 500-character parts, make each part and join them into one MP3. Doing one chapter at a time keeps it easy to manage.
It is probably a scanned PDF with no text layer. Take a photo or screenshot of each page and use "Text from photo" in the Import section, then check the text before you generate.
Yes, you can use the audio you generate in your own videos and projects.
No. The PDF is read in your browser. Only the text you choose to generate is sent to make the audio.
The free box above is capped at 500 characters per clip. If you need longer scripts (up to 5,000 characters per generation), voice cloning or higher-quality voices, take a look at the plans. Nothing here is required to use the free tool.
