How it works

  1. Pick a random number from 1 to 12: ask a friend, close your eyes and point, or use any dice app. The box does not pick for you.
  2. Find that number in the list below. Choose its language in the box menu, or open its page from the links at the bottom. Keep your text in English.
  3. Press generate, listen, and download the MP3. Pick a new number and try the same line again.

Pick a number: 12 accents to try

Each accent comes from a real AI voice. For British, Indian, Australian and Irish English, it is a native English voice from that country. For the others, it is a native speaker voice of that language reading your English text, so it sounds like English with that accent. Results vary by word.

  • 1. British: choose English (UK) in the menu, then Sonia or Ryan.
  • 2. Indian: choose English (India) in the menu, then Neerja or Prabhat.
  • 3. Australian: choose English (Australia) in the menu, then Natasha.
  • 4. Irish: open the Irish English page from the links at the bottom.
  • 5. Russian: choose Russian in the menu, then Dmitry or Svetlana.
  • 6. Italian: choose Italian in the menu, then Diego, Elsa or Isabella.
  • 7. Japanese: choose Japanese in the menu, then Nanami or Keita.
  • 8. Korean: choose Korean in the menu, then InJoon or SunHi.
  • 9. Polish: open the Polish accent generator from the links at the bottom.
  • 10. Greek: open the Greek accent generator from the links at the bottom.
  • 11. German: choose German in the menu, then Conrad, Katja, Killian or Amala.
  • 12. Spanish: choose Spanish (Spain) or Spanish (Mexico) in the menu.

Tip: skip the "Multilingual" voices

Some languages have voices with "Multilingual" in their name, such as in Italian, Korean, German and French. These voices are built to speak many languages fluently, so they read English with almost no accent. For an accent, always pick a voice without "Multilingual" in its name.

Also keep your text in English. If you type in Russian, Japanese or Greek, you get that language spoken normally, not an accent.

Fun ways to use random accents

  • Guess the accent: one person picks a number in secret, plays the clip, and everyone else guesses.
  • Improv and drama warm-ups: roll for an accent, hear the line, then perform it yourself.
  • Story writing: give each character in your story a random accent and hear how they sound.
  • Language class listening games that show how English sounds around the world.
  • Game and animation prototypes, before you choose final voices.

What it does and does not do

  • It reads your English text in the accent you choose and gives you an MP3.
  • It does not choose an accent at random by itself. You pick the number, then set the language.
  • It does not change the accent of your own recording. It is text to speech, not a voice changer.
  • It has no regional accents such as Scottish, Texan or Cockney, and it does not add echo, music or effects.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes. You can try it with no sign-up, with free clips up to 500 characters and an MP3 download. Longer text and more generations need an account or a plan, see the pricing page.

Does it pick a random accent for me?

No. Pick a number from 1 to 12 yourself (or with a dice app), then set that accent in the box using the list on this page.

Why do some accents sound stronger than others?

Non-English voices read English with their own sounds, and some words come out stronger than others. English voices from the UK, India, Australia and Ireland sound like native speakers of those countries.

Can I hear the same text in many accents?

Yes. Keep your text in the box, change the language and voice, and press generate again for each accent.

Can I use it in videos?

Yes, you can use the audio you generate in your own videos and projects.

Need more than a short clip?

The free box above is capped at 500 characters per clip. If you need longer scripts (up to 5,000 characters per generation), voice cloning or higher-quality voices, take a look at the plans. Nothing here is required to use the free tool.
